Life Achievement Awards (LAA) formerly known as Life Member Achievement Awards, are presented by clubs to honor members or other individuals for outstanding service to their club, district or state organization. The name change is intended to better reflect the intent of the Award, which may also be purchased by individual club members for themselves or by friends and family for a club member.
The LAA program provides a wonderful opportunity to support projects important to MGC’s mission. The $105 cost of a Life Achievement Award, which includes a pin, is used as needed to supplement the Scholarships investment fund. MGC currently budgets annually to offer at least one scholarships to all 15 public universities for studies in gardening, horticulture, landscaping and environment-related fields.
Once a LAA request and check are received, a packet is prepared with a letter acknowledging accomplishments of the honoree, along with the LAA pin and certificate. This packet is sent to the requester, who is responsible for making arrangements with either the district director or the club to have it presented, often through the District Director or the presenting Club.
