For the 2021 – 2023 Term, the President’s Mission Fund will be used for the following awards:
Michigan Youth Pollinator Garden Award:MYPG
MGC will sponsor seven $100.00 awards, one in each District, to the best judged your activities pollinator garden project sponsored by an MGC Garden Club.
How to Apply: Submit an MGC Award Application using the Award Designation “MYPG” – (Michigan Youth Pollinator Garden) to the MGC Awards Chair, Sue Soderberg, by October 1, of the Award year. The Youth Activities Chair and committee will judge these awards. It would be expected that the Garden Clubs receiving these awards would use the award fund to continue youth activities.
Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc. Supports National Garden Clubs High School Essay Contest:
Beginning with the 2021-2023 Administration, Michigan Garden Clubs will provide monetary support for the Clubs’ High School Essay Contest. Local MGC Clubs are encouraged to sponsor the Essay Contest at their local High Schools, including, if possible, a monetary award. Clubs will set their own local deadline for submission, in time to be able to judge a local winner for submission to the District/State Awards Committee by January 13th, for further review at the District and State level. Essay Contest topics for the next two years, information and rules are available on the MGC website under Award- Youth Contests
MGC will provide a $100 award to the best judged essay in each District. MGC will provide an additional $300 to the best of the seven District winners.
It is anticipated that funding for this award will be ongoing through the MGC annual budgeting process.
