62nd Blue Star (2012, rededicated 2024) & 12th Gold Star (2024)
The Lowell Showboat Garden Club dedicated a Blue Star Memorial By-Way on July 7, 2012. The marker is located at the scenic Flat River Overlook, between 201 and 103 E. Main Street, downtown Lowell.
Since the Blue Star marker was showing its age, the Garden Club generously decided to replace it. The new Blue Star Memorial By-Way was rededicated, and Michigan’s 12th Gold Star Memorial By-Way was dedicated on July 27, 2024, at the scenic Flat River Overlook.
The two markers, which were mounted on a fabulous custom post, were unveiled by a Blue Star mother and Gold Star mother. The event was a very fitting tribute to our Armed Forces and Gold Star Families.
