Saugatuck

January 1, 2023 by

9th Blue Star (1954)

Junior Daisyfield Garden Club of Mason dedicated an Intermediate Blue Star marker on September 3, 1954, according to National records.  The marker is located at Blue Star Memorial Highway Park, 3500 Blue Star Hwy, Saugatuck. Specifically, it is on the east side of old US 31 on the northern edge of Saugatuck, near Goshon Creek.  This is believed to be the original location.

This marker is one of four Intermediate markers dedicated in Michigan in the 1950s and is one of two still remaining (the other two have been lost).

In 1981, the Intermediate marker was officially retired, being replaced with the By-Way marker.
