73rd Blue Star (2014) & 78th Blue Star (2015)
The Wayne Garden Club, in cooperation with the City of Wayne, dedicated a Blue Star Memorial on May 25, 2014. The marker is located near 3739 Wayne Road on the Veterans Plaza walkway, Wayne (next to the Veteran Peace Memorial).
The dedication was held in conjunction with a local VFW following the Memorial Day parade. The ceremony began with the Wayne Memorial and John Glenn High School bands playing the National Anthem. Jean Goetz from the Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc. spoke to the meaning and importance of this tribute. A wreath was placed at the memorial to commemorate the service of our Armed Forces – past, present and future.
This Memorial Day weekend ceremony was the Garden Club’s way of showing their respect and appreciation for the freedom and security the American Armed Forces continue to provide our country, lest we forget. The dedication concluded with the playing of Taps.

The same garden club, again in cooperation with the City of Wayne, dedicated a Blue Star Memorial Highway on June 10, 2015. The marker is located in the median between the Michigan Avenue/US 12 divided highway (near 4th Street) at the east entrance to the city of Wayne.
A simple dedication was held under gorgeous blue skies with City of Wayne dignitaries and club members.
